| About the Family Owned Markets The Family
Owned Markets concept began in January of 2003 and produced their first GROUP
advertising the first week of April in 2003. The Family Owned Markets
consist of 8 Locally owned and operated Family Grocery Stores which include;
Foodland in Lebanon, Darrenkamp's Markets in Mount Joy and in Willow Street in
the Willow Valley Square, Mussers
Markets in Quarryville and Columbia, Oregon Dairy Farm Market, John Herrs
Village Market, and Yoders Country Market.
The concept was developed to help these locally owned operations be able to
compete with the Large Chain Stores that have unlimited resources for
advertising. By combining the resources of several stores, the group is
able to reach new levels of advertising that they cannot afford to reach on
their own. Also, by combining our BUYING POWER, we can buy products
cheaper and thus offer those saving to our loyal customers.
The addition in 2006
of Kennies Markets in York and Adams counties has been a great plus for the
Family Owned Markets. It has added to our buying POWER, and also given us
a new market area to work with. In addition the Kennies IN-STORE Marketing
programs will help us to expand what we can offer to you...our customers.
2007 was a very fun year for the Family Owned Markets.
Johns Herrs Village Market completed an expansion on their Millersville
Location. Yoders Market in New Holland completed a complete remodel and
expansion in the fall of 2007 and also added their own milk and ice cream
processing plant. Kennies Markets completed a BRAND NEW store as a
replacement for their Gettysburg market. They kept the store in the town
of Gettysburg by building the store next to the original market and placing the
new parking lot where the prior store sat. In the fall of 2007,
Darrenkamps Markets added a 3rd location to their business by purchasing the
original Ridgeview Farms market in Elizabethtown.
In 2008, the Family Owned Markets are proud to announce
another new member to our group. We are proud to welcome Midway
Supermarket which is located in Hegins PA.
The group is now comprised of 14 independently owned
and operated Grocery stores. We have expanded beyond our original
Lancaster County base to include Lebanon, Lykens, York, and Adams counties.
The Family Owned Markets would like to welcome
2 new members to our family. Martins Country Market in Ephrata became a
member of our group effective the ad week of 1/5/09. Martins opened the
Ephrata Store in 1984 and has expanded the store several times since the
opening. They feature a "GAS REWARDS" program that is linked with
Charlie's Fuel and Deli which is on West Main St. in Ephrata also.
Musser's Markets also announced the opening of a 3rd store in their company.
Musser's new store will be at the site of the "former Redners Market" in
Columbia/Mountville which is right off the Mountville exit on Rt. 30.
Musser's are hoping to have this new location open for business by mid February.
These new stores take our total to 16 stores and growing in our family.
Please join me in welcoming these new family members.
